Sustainability

Achieving climate targets requires a rethink of the construction industry, as the construction and operation of buildings is responsible for 38 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, according to the United Nations Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction. The construction industry is thus of great importance in achieving the climate targets, so the principles of sustainable development in the design, construction and operation of buildings and built structures are now legally binding to apply.

Quality Seal Sustainable Building (QNG)

As of July 1, 2021, the federal government promotes sustainability aspects through defined sustainability classes for buildings. Proof for the funding is provided by awarding the building-related QNG. From 01.01.2023, the supplemented QNG requirements for new construction and complete modernization of residential and non-residential buildings will come into force. The "Quality Seal Sustainable Building" is a state quality seal for buildings. It is awarded by demonstrating compliance with general and specific requirements for the ecological, socio-cultural and economic quality of buildings. For more information on the Sustainable Building Quality Seal, visit the website of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction

You can obtain a KfW loan of up to €120,000 per residential unit at particularly favorable conditions with the Sustainable Building Quality Seal.
